Statement regarding COVID-19 case at the Municipal Pool

On Saturday, July 11th, the village received notice that one pool employee tested positive for COVID-19.  The Kenton Hardin Health Department notified the village on Sunday, July 12th that no other pool employees needed to be contacted as part of the contact tracing protocol.   Contact tracing begins with the health department asking the person who tested positive for the names of those they have been in direct contact with; direct contact includes folks with whom the person has been closer than 6 feet and for longer than 15 minutes at a time.  The staff member who tested positive will be required to quarantine for 14 days, and re-test with a negative result before returning to work. 

The pool staff continues to adhere to the required cleaning and sanitizing schedules. As a standard precaution, the pool was closed on Sunday and Monday.  Pool staff completed additional cleaning and sanitizing upon notice of the test.  The health department has expressed satisfaction that our cleaning and sanitizing protocols, both in general and in response to the potential case, met the requirements for operations. 

Council met on Monday, July 13th, to review the situation.  Council is satisfied that all the necessary steps have been taken to continue safely operating the pool, for both employees and patrons.  The pool will re-open on Tuesday, July 14th on the regular schedule.  Staff will be taking the temperatures of all patrons prior to entering the facility.  Your cooperation with the changes this season has been greatly appreciated!
